About the speaker: 

Maria Souvalioti is a Senior Systems and Network Engineer at NCSR Demokritos with extensive experience in advanced networking, cybersecurity, and open-source cloud infrastructure. She has co-led the design and migration of large-scale campus networks, contributed to national and EU-funded R&D projects (such as 6G CLOUD and AInception), and specializes in L3 architectures, SDN, network automation, and virtualization technologies including oVirt, KVM, and VMware. With a strong academic foundation in Next-Gen Communication Networks and Distributed Application Environments, she has also authored several technical papers and delivered talks on SDDC (Software Designed Data Center) and open-source virtualization. Maria is a passionate advocate for open-source technologies and secure-by-design architectures, actively engaged in the evolving landscape of network security, secure network architectures (such as SCION), and infrastructure resilience.
